The students have an accomplished and talented music teacher, Emily Wells, who combines various music education methods to form a program specifically tailored to each grade level. Through the use of Orff instruments (wooden xylophones), glockenspiels, drums and voice, the students are exposed to rhythm and melody while learning how to create music of their own. Emily also incorporates songs of social justice into her program; songs which correspond to the curriculum being taught in each class. By expanding the school's collection of instruments, Emily will be able to further enrich each student's experience by building more creative ensembles. Sadly, Music and Arts programs are always the first to go in the public school system of today.
